About
Ilia Shengelia leads Aurum’s work with software, AI, gaming, e-commerce, and other technology-driven clients, advising founders and product teams on the legal and strategic decisions behind building, launching, protecting, and scaling digital products.
His work spans corporate structuring, commercial contracts, product legal and compliance, data protection, IP protection, fundraising, and cross-border operations. He helps ambitious technology businesses turn complex product, data, contract, and regulatory questions into clear legal architecture that supports launch, growth, investment, and international expansion.
For clients, this means legal support that goes beyond risk review. Ilia helps structure products, contracts, data flows, and operating models so teams can launch faster, scale with fewer legal bottlenecks, and give investors, partners, and enterprise customers greater confidence.
Ilia holds CIPP/E and CIPM certifications and has served as Data Protection Officer and privacy team lead for companies operating across multiple jurisdictions. His data protection work covers GDPR compliance, cross-border data transfers, DPIAs, privacy-by-design, and data breach response, with a focus on frameworks that work in practice, not just on paper.
Before joining Aurum, Ilia practised at a leading international law firm across its Berlin and Paris offices, advising global businesses on cross-border transactions and regulatory matters.
